Need some news to spice up your Friday night? Well, 5-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman, who is a top priority for Tennessee football, just provided it. Moments ago, the in-state speedster stunned a lot of people by backing off his pledge to Oregon.

Elite 4-star Tennessee signee expected to make his debut this weekend

Bowman originally committed to the Ducks in late July, but the Vols never stopped pushing for him. Last weekend, Bowman made the three-hour trip from Brentwood to Knoxville and he was able to see just how much support there is for the program. Yes, Tennessee lost to Georgia, but the fact that he decommitted from Oregon right after his Vols visit is pretty eye-opening:

Bowman is an elite prospect and Tennessee surely won't be the only school who now tries to officially flip him now that he's no longer Eugene-bound. Throughout his recruitment, the 6-1, 175-pounder has picked up nearly 40 offers - he's currently at 39.

However, no one can argue with the fact that the timing is pretty interesting here. Bowman gave a glowing review of his recent trip to the Tennessee campus and less than a week after said visit he has decided that he doesn't want to play his college ball in the Big Ten with Oregon?

The Vols set the standard high in terms of turning his head on a visit and with Tennessee being the in-state powerhouse for him, that might be something that's sticking out to him. Bowman said that he was quite impressed with what Chris Brazzell II and the rest of the offense were able to get done against the Dawgs.

Will that performance and the atmosphere at Neyland Stadium be enough to make him realize that suiting up for the Vols will be the right choice for him? With Bowman being a 2027 product, there's more than a year until he can make things official during the Early Signing Period in December 2026. Still, the speedster opening his recruitment has a lot of people talking and it has Vols fans optimistic that he'll end up making a quick decision to give the UT staff his verbal.
