5-star RB is about to give Tennessee football awful news per Michigan DB

This would be a blow for Josh Heupel.

Once Aug. 19 gets here, Tennessee football fans everywhere are going to be waiting to see if 5-star running back Savion Hiter picks the Vols or not. While he's down to four teams, the recent buzz is that he's down to UT and Michigan. Who will come out on top?

If you ask Michigan defensive back Shamari Earls, he thinks Hiter, a fellow Virginia native, will be making the move to Ann Arbor next year. Yup, Earls went ahead and heavily hinted on a recent radio show that Hiter is going to be Michigan-bound when it's all said and done. This of course would be a major problem for Josh Heupel:

DB Shamari Earls is convinced Savion Hiter will pick Michigan over Tennessee

We don't have to tell you that we sincerely hope Earls is way off with his prediction. Hiter is wanted by every powerhouse in the country and for good reason - the youngster has college superstar written all over him. Come next week, he'll be deciding between Ohio State, Georgia, Tennessee and Michigan.

Again, though, this feels like a two-team race for the elite RB. According to the 247Sports Composite, Hiter, a 5-11, 200-pounder, is ranked five stars, the No. 1 running back in the country, No. 1 player out of Virginia and No. 9 prospect overall for the 2026 class.

Whoever ends up landing this kid is going to be over the moon. UT has No. 1 QB Faizon Brandon on board, plus 5-star OT Gabriel Osenda and 5-star safety/wideout Salesi Moa. Brandon hasn't shied away in trying to recruit both Hiter and LSU commit Tristen Keys.

Hiter is all set to let everyone know where he's going to be playing at the next level. Tennessee is giving it all it has to have him pick the Vols, but Michigan appears to be in a slight lead. There's hope that Tennessee can still pull this off, but Earls' confidence doesn't give people much hope that Hiter will be headed to the SEC. We might have to get ready for him to play in the Big Ten instead.
