Former Tennessee Vols in the pros have been killing it and making the Vols’ footprint even stronger at the next level. Brewers top prospect, Andrew Fischer, a former Tennessee first-round pick, was just promoted to Triple-A, and pitcher Chad Dallas made his MLB debut a few weeks ago. It's been great to see all of the former Vols showing out, as the program is now slowly becoming an MLB talent factory.
Tennessee baseball could benefit in a big way from latest MLB draft proposal
Another former Vol is getting a chance in the major leagues, this time infielder Christian Moore, who is being recalled by the Angels. He made his 2026 debut yesterday against the Athletics and went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts. In the majors, Moore has struggled early in his young career, hitting .199 across 54 games as a 23-year-old. However, he has been dominant in the minor leagues, hitting .307 with a .922 OPS across all three levels.
Christian Moore is back in the majors for the Angels
Seeing Moore get another chance in the majors is fun to see, as he has been dominant in the minors and could use some big league reps. Mike Trout is currently on the injured list, so Moore is getting an opportunity to come back up.
Moore played left field yesterday, and he didn’t show his best defensively either, as he dropped a ball he was charging in on down the left-field line. It was a tough play since he had to run across the outfield, but it’s one a big-league left fielder should make.

Moore still is a blue-chip prospect
Drafted eighth overall out of Tennessee, Moore is still considered one of the top prospects in baseball. When he was in Knoxville, he had an amazing 2024 season, hitting .375 with a 1.248 OPS, along with 34 home runs and 74 RBIs. In 2025, he was ranked the No. 68 overall prospect in baseball and the No. 1 prospect in the Angels’ farm system.
MLB's scouting grade has him a 55 hit and 60 power grade saying, "Strong and compact at 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, Moore is an aggressive hitter from the right side of the plate who looks to do damage with bat speed, strength and loft in his swing. His impressive raw power plays to all fields, with the potential to reach 25-30 homers annually in the big leagues."
