Losing a recruit always stings for the Tennessee Vols football team, but things are always made worse when the Florida Gators are involved. Despite 4-star cornerback Onis Konanbanny being a longtime pledge to the Vols, he won't be playing his college ball in Knoxville.

Instead, Konanbanny, who didn't make things official with the team during the Early Signing Period, has decided to flip his commitment to the Gators. This news was something Vols fans were prepping for, as Billy Napier and his coaches never stopped recruiting Konanbanny and they made him a priority leading up to Wednesday's National Signing Day:

4-star CB Onis Konanbanny has officially flipped his commitment from Tennessee to Florida

Konanbanny, a London native, is ranked the No. 35 cornerback in the country according to the 247Sports Composite and the No. 8 prospect out of South Carolina for his class. He moved to the USA when he was 15 to chase his football dreams, with NSD set to be extra special for him.

Unfortunately for Josh Heupel and the Vols, Tennessee will now see him making plays for a different SEC squad. Throughout his recruitment, the 6-1, 180-pounder picked up more than 40 offers, showing just how many teams were hoping to land his signature.

For a while, it sure looked like Tennessee was going to be the next home for the youngster, but again, Napier never stopped showing him love and it felt like a flip was eventually going to happen. Konanbanny took his official visit to Tennessee in June, but a November trip to Florida sure turned his head.

It made an impact on the CB delaying his signing, with it ultimately playing a big role too in him deciding that he'll sign with the Gators on Wednesday and not Tennessee. This news stings for Vols fans, no doubt.
