Now that he's in the NBA, Tennessee Volunteers basketball fans sure are following the Los Angeles Lakers closely. That's right, former Vols' star Dalton Knecht is now suiting up for the Lakers and he has wasted no time in making a splash during his rookie season.
Earlier in the week, Knecht returned to Tennessee to take on the Memphis Grizzlies. It was great to have him back, and things were made even more special with Rick Barnes making the trip over to see his former stud play.
The night was only made better with Knecht making things unforgettable for an adorable little girl. A clip on social media has gone viral of her not only meeting Knecht at the stadium, but him giving her his shoes and also signing them. It's a moment she'll surely never forget.
Dalton Knecht is someone Tennessee Vols fans will always root for
Come on, that's just awesome from Knecht. He went above and beyond to put a smile on this little girl's face and he's getting showered with love on social media for it. Again, this is a moment the girl and her family will cherish for a long time.
As for his performance on the hardwood, he's averaging 6.2 points and two rebounds per contest early on during his rookie campaign. He's averaging more than 16 minutes per game too working with LeBron James, which is fantastic experience for him.
While suiting up in Knoxville, Knecht was a total joy to watch. Last season, he took home First-Team All-SEC honors and was named the 2024 SEC Player of the Year. Not only that, but he was a 2024 Consensus First-Team All-American for Barnes and Co.
Knecht only spent one season with Vols basketball, transferring over from Northern Colorado. It was a year to remember, though, as he poured in 21.7 points per game. With his fantastic personality too, he quickly won over the fanbase and now more of the same is happening now that he's in the pros. He's simply an easy guy to root for.
