This sure feels like backpedaling at its finest. The new SEC Netflix show just came out and everyone can't stop talking about it. During one of the episodes, Diego Pavia didn't hold back with some choice words for the Tennessee football team.
In the episode, Pavia said he straight up hates Tennessee players and he delivered several expletives to show how much he dislikes the Vols. This came leading up to the late November showdown in Nashville, where Pavia essentially guaranteed a win.
Instead, Tennessee prevailed in convincing fashion, taking control of things after the first quarter. This week, Pavia spoke about the end of the season, and he claimed he was playing with a torn hamstring. Oh, so now the excuses are flying?

Diego Pavia said he played with a torn hamstring late in the season
This injury came during Vanderbilt's win over Kentucky, which came before the thrilling win over Alabama. Per Pavia, though, he was banged up the rest of the season and it prevented him from being at his best for the final stretch of the campaign.
This included the matchup against the Vols, but come on, he can't just sit there and blame a bum hammy for his performance. After Vandy started off hot, Pavia ended up completing just 8-of-17 passes for 104 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
He was doing a whole bunch of yapping leading up to kickoff, but his play no question was not backed up. Tennessee started off slow, but Nico Iamaleava finished with four touchdowns, while Dylan Sampson rushed for 178 hashes. That win for UT punched its ticket to the CFP for the first time in program history.
Leading up to this season, Pavia talked trash at Tennessee saying that sooner rather than later Vanderbilt is going to take over as the main SEC powerhouse in the state. Yeah, not in this lifetime. Pavia can do all the chirping he wants, but UT continues to dominate the rivalry. Everyone plays hurt, but the timing of him revealing his hamstring injury is a bit comical.
