It seems like drama continues to find elite running back/wide receiver Legend Bey, who was once signed by the Vols and Josh Heupel. He was granted his release, eventually ending up at Ohio State. Unfortunately for the Buckeyes and Ryan Day, Bey's start to fall camp could not be getting off to a worse start.
Bey wasn't out with the rest of his team, with news breaking that he has been suspended for at least the first two days of camp for a violation of team rules. While this isn't an update that the Tennessee faithful should be celebrating, it's of course going to be something that can't be ignored since Bey was once Knoxville-bound and expected to be a big-time contributor. Now, though, he's making headlines for all of the wrong reasons.

Legend Bey is making headlines at Ohio State for all the wrong reasons after bailing on Tennessee
Per insider Dave Biddle, the reason for the suspension points to something that was 'nothing too serious' on Bey's end. Still, and we don't want to harp on the kid, not being out for the first two days of fall camp because of a mistake you made OFF the field is a bad look, and there's simply no way to spin things.
Once again, Tennessee fans know all about the drama that has followed Bey in recent months. The timeline alone speaks to things: he committed to Tennessee in July 2025, then flipped to Ohio State in November, only to flip back to Tennessee and made things official with the Vols during the Early Signing Period in December.
However, right after that happened, rumors started flying that Bey didn't want to play for UT and that his family was pushing him to suit up in the SEC instead of making the move to Columbus. Long story short, he was granted his release from Tennessee and signed with Ohio State not long after that all went down.
Sheesh. He was battling a minor injury during spring ball, but countless Ohio State supporters were fired up to see him make his fall camp debut and light up the field, making plays alongside Julian Sayin, Chris Henry Jr., and others. The earliest that will be happening will be for the third day of camp, which is not ideal.
As for Tennessee, this is a headache that's been avoided, as the Vols are dealing with enough of their own problems. At the top of the list has to be figuring out the pass-rush with Chaz Coleman no longer with the program, while Josh Heupel has an incredibly difficult starting quarterback decision to make in the coming weeks.
Let's make one thing clear here, too. No one is celebrating the fact that Bey was suspended, and if anything, it has to once again be noted that nothing too serious is going on here. Still, it's proving to be an early distraction for Day and the Buckeyes, which should make the Tennessee faithful a bit thankful the Vols aren't going through this instead.
