With Tennessee football all set to open up fall camp on Wednesday, just about everyone has been wondering what the status is for standout defensive back Boo Carter. Over the last week, people have been worried that he was potentially going to get cut for skipping team workouts.

However, it doesn't look like that's going to be the case. Moments ago, ESPN insider Chris Low reported that while there had been buzz that Josh Heupel was going to move on without Carter in 2025, he won't be dismissed from the program and he's expected to start practice with his teammates moving forward. Obviously, this is huge news:

Tennessee star Boo Carter has returned to Knoxville and he won't be dismissed from the team

Talk about a major sigh of relief for people all over Tennessee. Carter indeed missed some team workouts and reports stated he left town after an altercation with teammates earlier this month. Apparently, veteran leaders were not happy with Carter and they let him know all about it.

Heupel and his staff couldn't have been happy with Carter's behavior, especially after all of the drama that took place with former 5-star signee Nico Iamaleava, who has since left campus and signed with the UCLA Bruins for what he said was all about moving closer to home to be with his family.

Carter is coming off a tremendous freshman campaign with the Vols and he's now going to play a role on offense for Heupel too. It's going to take some time for him to build chemistry with Joey Aguilar, assuming the App State/UCLA transfer wins the job.

When the portal was open, there was also worry that Carter was going to leave Knoxville to join a different squad. He was linked to Colorado, which made plenty of sense. That's all in the past now, however, with Low providing this huge update. With that said, It's time for Carter to win back some respect he may have lost from his teammates. That won't be easy, but it's his job to make it happen.
