The biggest game of the year is here for the Tennessee Vols and Josh Heupel. That's right, the Georgia Bulldogs are next on the schedule and College GameDay is making its way to Athens for this one - the stadium and entire city will be buzzing.
Tennessee is No. 6 in the country after taking down Mississippi State in Week 11, while the Bulldogs fell to No. 11 following a loss to Ole Miss. There are College Football Playoff dreams on the line. With a loss, UGA will be out as a three-loss team. At the same time, plenty of people are already saying Tennessee will be out too with two losses.
There's so much on the line for this game. However, it sure feels like there's more pressure on Georgia, as Kirby Smart and his program are going through some tough times. Here's how Tennessee can make things worse for him and his staff.
Tennessee is ready to post a big-time upset over Georgia in Week 12
We already mentioned wiping Georgia out of the CFP conversation by posting an upset, but here's what else Georgia has at stake in this one:
- A 28 home game winning streak, which dates back to 2019
- A seven-year streak of New Year's Six bowl berths
- A seven-year winning streak vs. Tennessee
- A chance at making the SEC Championship game
Georgia has been riding high in recent years, but a loss to Tennessee would bring them back down to earth in the best way possible. It's not going to be easy for the Vols, however, as they haven't managed to take down the Bulldogs in seven years.
The Bulldogs are also strong favorites for this one. Add in the fact that Nico Iamaleava is still recovering from his upper-body injury and it has a lot of people in Knoxville worried. However, the stars could align for Tennessee to send a massive statement with a victory. At the same time, it would ruin 2024 for Georgia as a whole, something countless people would love to see.
