With all of the talent that came in via the transfer portal, sometimes it's easy to forget about some of the top talent that came in. We can't talk enough about Tennessee football additions Colton Hood, Star Thomas, Sam Pendleton and Wendell Moe Jr.

However, is there another player on offense who might be getting a bit overlooked? In this case, we're talking about former Alabama wide receiver Amari Jefferson, who signed with the Vols this winter. In a pleasant surprise, Jefferson has been turning heads a bit at camp and he's developing some chemistry with Joey Aguilar. Could Jefferson end up being a stud for Tennessee moving forward?

When Jefferson signed with Alabama as a member of the 2024 class, it was a major disappointment for the coaching staff. The speedster was a standout for the Baylor School in Chattanooga, the same school that 5-star UT commit Gabriel Osenda is currently a stud for.

It's always going to be a pain for Heupel when an in-state playmaker doesn't pick Tennessee, but things are made 1,000 times worse when he chooses an SEC rival like Alabama instead. Luckily, Jefferson was one and done with the Tide and he's in Knoxville where he belongs.

The former 4-star prospect is entering his redshirt season - he didn't post any stats for the Tide in 2024. Right now, the focus is on Chris Brazzell, Braylon Staley, Mike Matthews and Boo Carter in terms of the wideouts who Heupel will be counting on to step up.

However, Jefferson has the opportunity to step in and remind everyone why he was such a touted recruit coming out of high school. He's been flying a bit under the radar this summer, but all of that can change once Week 1 gets here. We're not expecting this kid to be an All-SEC player in Year 1 with the Vols, but don't be surprised if you hear his name called quite a bit this campaign.
