Just like that, former Tennessee football playmaker Cordarrelle Patterson is looking for a new job. On Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers released the former All-Pro, as Mike Tomlin and Co. have decided to go in a different direction leading up to Week 1.

As it turns out, though, Patterson was the one to break the news that he was no longer going to be playing with Pittsburgh. Before the Steelers announced the move, Patterson actually took to Twitter to let everyone know what was happening. He did so in the best way possible, delivering a post that had plenty of people laughing:

Former Tennessee football star Cordarrelle Patterson was released on Monday by the Steelers

How do you get fired on your day off? Yup, everyone is quoting the movie Friday right now after this happened to Patterson. He has responded to multiple replies to his social media post above, which was pretty dang hilarious if you ask us.

The expectation is that multiple teams could give him a look now that he's free to sign elsewhere. Might the Atlanta Falcons have some interest in bringing him back to town? That's unknown at this time, but we'll see how things play out.

Patterson is a veteran of the game, as he's now getting ready for Year 13 in the league. He spent one season with the Steelers and he was originally ready to make a splash with the AFC North side in 2025, but we now know that's not going to happen for him.

The four-time All-Pro special teamer previously suited up for the Vikings, Raiders, Patriots, Bears and Falcons. Patterson turned 34 in March and his best football is no question behind him. Despite that, he's not ready to hang up his cleats just yet. Only time will tell if a different organization decides to give him a shot after Pittsburgh cut him.

Tennessee fans will be hoping he does land a new gig soon enough. When he was in Knoxville for a short period, Patterson was a big play waiting to happen. During the 2012 campaign, his lone season with the Vols, the speedster posted 778 yards and five touchdowns, while adding 308 yards and three more scores on the ground. Don't forget about his two special teams TDs. Yup, he was electric with the Vols and that has carried over to the league.
