Are the Georgia Bulldogs about to pull a fast one on the Tennessee football team? Unfortunately, things could end up going in that direction with the recruitment of 4-star playmaker Tyson Bacon, who was once a verbal pledge to play for the Vols.
While a lot of Tennessee fans were excited about Bacon making plays in Knoxville, he made the decision to decommit, opening things up back on April 23. Despite that, Bacon is still planning to take his Knoxville official on June 20, leaving the door open for UT to sign him after all.
This past weekend, however, the 6-3, 265-pounder was in Athens for his official visit with the Dawgs. From the looks of the photos he posted on social media, Kirby Smart and Co. were able to turn his head. Now, there's a lot of buzz that UGA might be in a strong position to land his commitment:
Georgia pulled out all the stops for 4-star DL Tyson Bacon during his official visit
Yup, Bacon indeed looks like he had a great time on campus, but no final decision has been made yet on his end. There are more trips on the way, as the elite prospect will be taking official visits to Tennessee, Alabama and Florida.
Bacon is, barring a surprise, going to be playing his college ball in the SEC, but at this time it's unknown where he'll be doing so. He was previously committed to Tennessee, but teams kept on working overtime in trying to get him to flip.
This led to him decommitting, which has him going through a busy visit schedule. Georgia was able to get him on campus and Smart sold him on all the great things his program has to offer. The Bulldogs are hoping to push for a natty next season after falling short of that goal in 2024.
Bacon wouldn't get to town until the season after next, but he'll surely be keeping a close eye on Georgia if he ends up giving Smart his verbal. Tennessee is hoping that doesn't happen, but the Vols and Heupel have some catching up to do if they want him to commit for the second time. Keep an eye on Florida and Alabama too here.
