The wait for the Early Signing Period next December is a long one, but already, Tennessee football fans can't wait to see what Tyreek King is going to be able to get done for this team. King is one of the top receiver prospects in the country and people are still riding high over his commitment.
Need another reason to be excited about things? This week, Rivals came out with updated rankings for 2026 playmakers and King is the new No. 1 slot receiver in the country. This is a major honor for the youngster and one he's understandably over the moon about:
4-star Tennessee commit is the new No. 1 slot WR in the country
According to the Rivals rankings, King indeed is the No. 1 slot WR in the country, plus the No. 2 prospect out of Tennessee for his class. Per the 247 Sports Composite, he's a four-star playmaker and the No. 12 WR overall in the country.
King announced his commitment to the Vols on Oct. 31, picking Tennessee over additional rides from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, LSU and many others. He's a speedster and his pledge was only made better with him being a standout for nearby Knoxville Catholic too.
Josh Heupel is always going to want to prioritize in-state recruits, but losing a local product would have stung quite a bit. Thankfully, that's not going to be the case for King, as he's locked in with UT and he can't wait to make plays on offense for Heupel down the road.
The 2026 class is off to a strong start for Tennessee and things are expected to heat up with spring ball around the corner. Heupel and his coaches have been putting in serious work on the recruiting trail. Look for more commits to arrive sooner rather than later to join King, 5-star QB Faizon Brandon and others.
