Josh Heupel adds 3rd new commit of the day with in-state CB picking Tennessee

This is an unreal run for Heupel.

You almost can't believe it. The start of the new month could not be going any better for Josh Heupel and the Tennessee football team. Earlier in the day, Vols fans everywhere were celebrating the news that a pair of new commits were jumping on board.

Yup, 4-star linebacker TJ White and 4-star defensive lineman Dereon Albert gave Heupel the news he was hoping for. The Vols weren't done there, however, as in-state cornerback Jamyan Theodore just shut down his recruitment as well. He'll be staying home and playing his college ball in Knoxville:

In-state CB Jamyan Theodore has committed to Tennessee football and Josh Heupel

Boom. Theodore checks in at 6-0, 170-pounds and he's a standout playmaker for the Baylor School in Chattanooga. Throughout his recruitment, the newest Tennessee pledge picked up 24 offers - in the end, he was down to the Vols, Wisconsin and Ole Miss.

Theodore took his official visit to UT on June 13. He was at Ole Miss on June 10 and he also made his way to Madison to meet with Wisconsin on June 6. This was a close decision for the stud cornerback, but it looks like staying close to family and friends and playing for Tennessee was a dream come true for the youngster.

Keep in mind as well that one of Theodore's high school teammates is going to be Tennessee-bound in 2026 as well. We're of course talking about offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda, one of two 5-star commits for the Vols - Faizon Brandon is the other.

Funny enough, Albert and White are teammates in Mississippi. Now, Theodore and Osenda will also be making the move from their high school to Tennessee's campus together. That's pretty darn cool if you ask us. Theodore, for now, will make his way to Tennessee ranked as the No. 64 CB in the country. With him committed, Heupel is up to 16 verbals for his 2026 group.
