In recent days, the Tennessee football team has been hit with bad news all over the place. While there's still plenty of drama going on with the transfer portal - yes we're talking about Mike Matthews - a positive update has arrived for head coach Josh Heupel.
On Monday, standout tight end Miles Kitselman announced that he'll be back for one last season with the Vols. Originally, it looked like 2024 was going to be his last dance with the team, but thanks to the new JUCO rules, No. 87 indeed will be back in Knoxville for the 2025 campaign, which is major:
Veteran TE Miles Kitselman will be back with Tennessee in 2025
There was hope that Kitselman would be back and now things are made official. This is also important because not long ago tight ends Holden Staes and Charlie Browder revealed that they weren't going to be back in '25, entering the portal instead.
This past season for the Vols, Kitselman became a bit of a fan favorite, busting his tail off in every way possible to help the team out. He posted 22 receptions for 301 yards and four touchdowns, plus a rushing touchdown too.
With five wide receivers entering the portal, plus Matthews' status being up in the air, getting Kitselman back in the fold for next season should be considered a big win for the coaching staff. Things will only be made better for Heupel if he's able to convince Matthews to return too, something UT supporters are surely hoping will happen.
