The Tennessee Vols have been killing it on the recruiting trail as of late. The staff has been working relentlessly, making top lists and scheduling official visits, but their hard work has finally paid off in a big way, as the Vols have picked up and under the radar commitment.

Tennessee is becoming a consistent NFL talent machine in the Josh Heupel era

Three-star Creekside High School safety Carter Jamison from Fairburn, Georgia, has officially committed to the Vols. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound safety picked the Vols over South Florida and Wake Forest, but don’t let the weak offer lost fool you, he’s still a baller.

It’s worth noting that Jamison had a monster junior season where he recorded 63 tackles, 4.0 sacks, 9.0 TFLs, 2.0 interceptions, and 2.0 fumble recoveries. He’s a do it all kind of player and helped lead Creekside to a state title and an undefeated season at 15-0. These are the type of prospects I love Heupel taking a swing on. Jamison is a high upside player who has proven production in a good league.

Carter Jamison commits to Josh Heupel and the Vols

I wouldn’t be surprised if Knowles moves him all around the defense. Jamison shows the ability to play nickel and both safety spots, something that is huge in the Vols’ new scheme. He isn't afraid to get gritty as a tackler in the run game, which is a big plus for a defensive back. Knowles loves his safeties, and he may have gotten another under-the-radar guy in Jamison. His ability to play multiple spots on the field and his production in the run game and in coverage are huge.

If you’re a Vols fan, you should be excited because not all 20 or so commits are going to be blue-chip prospects. You have to take chances on players who have great production, but are overlooked, and this is the case with Jamison. Tennessee is recruiting classes off to a nice start, and with the official visits starting up soon, we will look to have a big June full of commitments. Go get 'em, Heupel.
