Lane Kiffin has been one of the most polarizing figures in college football for years. His brief stint at Tennessee lasted just one season, where he went 7-6, before the 33-year-old coach made the jump to Los Angeles to take over as USC’s head man.

Since then, Kiffin has been all over the place, but he was just hired at LSU. Once again, he had a drama-filled departure, making everyone at Ole Miss hate him while he left for Baton Rouge. Since his arrival at LSU, Kiffin has been all in on the Transfer Portal, brick by brick, rebuilding the Tigers' roster with win-now talent.

Kiffin went all in on Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt and decided he even needed to fly to Knoxville while Leavitt was visiting the Vols to talk to him. This move seemingly paid off, as Leavitt is now headed to play for him in Baton Rouge, and Kiffin couldn't resist letting Vols fans know.

Kiffin stirred the pot again, quoting a post on X about how, 16 years ago today, he made the move to USC. True to form, he didn’t exactly win over Vols fans, who were quickly reminded of his history in Knoxville, and weren’t exactly thrilled.

One thing you have to respect about Kiffin is he is true to who he is. November 21st now becomes one of the biggest games for Tennessee fans. The Vols will host LSU, and you can bet Kiffin won't have a kind welcome back to Neyland Stadium. Leavitt likely won't either, as Big Orange Nation boo's might be heard on Broadway across the state in Nashville.

Not to mention, this probably isn’t the last time Tennessee fans will watch a top prospect slip away to LSU. Both the Vols and Tigers are sure to chase plenty of the same recruits in the 2027 class, setting up plenty of drama. Josh Heupel will have his chance for revenge, but he’ll have to wait until they meet on the field.
