Obviously, as we know, the biggest story of the NFL Draft weekend was the slide of former Vols cornerback Jermod McCoy, one of the top players in the class. Concerns about his knee, which could require another surgery and potentially impact his long-term career, caused him to fall much further than expected.

Joey Aguilar immediately sees his NFL dreams come true despite going undrafted

After drafting Jermod McCoy in the fourth round, the Las Vegas Raiders posted some highlights on X with an amazing caption. It said "McCoy causing nighmartes." I love this. Some people are into dreams, and some are into nightmares, and McCoy is a wideout's worst nightmare. In 2024, he was a bonified top cornerback and a top-10 left guard talent coming into his draft.

It's awesome to see how fired up Raiders fans are about ghetting Mccoy. They are saying he could be the steal of the draft and "we got a demon." From Tennessee's perspective, it's amazing that his new franchise's fans are appreciating McCoy the way that Vols fans did in Knoxville. Hopefully he balls out next seaosn and continues to stay healthy.

Raiders fans should be fired up about CB Jermod McCoy

Yes, the knee issues are concerning, but at the end of the day, the Raiders took a calculated chance on McCoy, and he has the potential to be an all-pro type of player. NFL Insider Jordan Schultz said, "One GM told me earlier in the week that Jerod McCoy was an 'All-Pro caliber player' when they evaluated him two years ago." For a fourth-round pick, that's insane value, as when it comes to day three, you're just hoping a player can make your roster and stick around for a few years. Sure, there are outliers, but for the most part, if you get two seasons out of a day, three picks, it was a solid choice nonetheless.

Given the fact that the Raiders have been the laughing stock of the NFL for the last decade, why not take a gamble on a potential star?

The next step for McCoy is preparing to dominate OTAs and training camp. He hasn’t played in over a year, so shaking off the rust will be crucial for the former Vol. I’m confident he can prove all 31 teams that passed on him wrong.
