The bulk of Tennessee’s transfer portal class is already complete, with the Vols assembling a stacked group coming in. However, it could get even better with Wake Forest transfer Juke Harris. Tennessee has been viewed as the leader for the standout wing, but things may be getting closer than ever in his recruitment.

Rick Barnes retools Vols roster with emphasis on elite shooting and scoring

247Sports' national basketball analyst Travis Branham went on The Assist podcast and dropped a huge note on the Juke Harris recruitment. “They (Michigan) are very much in the hunt for Juke Harris,” Branham said. “That one is evolving pretty quickly. As of this morning, it's now sounding like his decision will likely come down to Michigan and Tennessee. Both have had him on visits at this point, and that’s going to be a fight to the finish.”

Tennessee has work to do in the Juke Harris recruitment

I mean, this update from Branham is far from ideal for Tennessee, but on the other hand, we always knew this would go down to the wire, and that Dusty May wasn't going to leave without a fight. Harris is ranked among ther top players in the portal, with some places listing him as the No. 1 overall player. The 6-foot7 wing had a very good sophomore season, averaging 21.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists. If the Vols end up landing Harris, there is a chance they end up at No. 1 in the preseason polls.

On the bright side, if Tennessee misses out on Harris, they've already had an amazing offseason. Rick Barnes has landed Terrance Hill Jr., Dai Dai Ames, Tyler Lundblade, Jalen Haralson, and Miles Rubin, all high-level transfers. Not to mention, Tennessee will bring in a top-10 high school recruiting class, and they retained DeWayne Brown II and Troy Henderson from last year. Yes, it would still would sting not landing Harris, but this team is capable of making a deep run next March. In the meantime, let's hope that Rick Barnes can hold off Michigan and get this done for the Vols.
