After a pretty eye-opening start to his career, things continue to go south for Ohio State freshman Legend Bey, who was once a Tennessee commit ready for a bright future in Knoxville. In Week 1, Bey had a touchdown reception, showcasing his blazing wheels. Since then, however, you've barely heard his name mentioned during games.
In this past weekend's blowout win against Illinois, Bey, who was also suspended early on during fall camp, didn't record a single snap, which has turned heads across the country. This is something Vols fans are certainly paying close attention to. Originally, Bey committed to Tennessee, flipped to Ohio State, and then flipped back to UT and signed to play for Josh Heupel. However, drama arrived and he ended up with Ryan Day after all.
Following the Week 4 win, Scarlet & Game site expert Ryan Stano brought up Bey being in Day's 'doghouse' while also bringing up the fact that the true freshman could also be on transfer watch moving forward. Yup, that's not something anyone could have imagined early on this season.

Legend Bey seems to be learning the grass isn't always greener after ditching Tennessee
It would have been one thing if Bey was still dealing with the ankle injury that impacted him in Week 3, but as you can see in the video above, he was fully healthy and looked ready to make an impact against Illinois.
Instead, Bey had the best spot in the house to watch all of the action from the sidelines, but it was obviously the last place he wanted to be. There has to be something going on behind the scenes that everyone doesn't know about, but statements from Day and his coaching staff continue to be made.
A lot the issues seem to stem from Bey's lack of interest in getting coached up. Following the Week 1 Ohio State win, Day called Bey out a little bit for bringing out two kickoff returns after being told to take a knee. In the Week 2 loss to Texas, Bey wasn't back out there to return kicks, with Day clearly not being happy over the season-opener.
This, of course, was nothing for Heupel to worry about, as he was ready to welcome the freshman to campus with open arms, but he bolted for Big Ten country instead. Still, a lot of us are left wondering what could have been had Bey just stuck with his original commitment. With his big-play ability, he most certainly could have been used in the heartbreaking loss to No. 1 Texas at Neyland Stadium.
If he does end up transferring after this campaign, could Heupel get on the phone and see if these two sides could end up together after all? It's way too early to start thinking about that, but the more games that pass by that Bey is not featured in Ohio State's offense, the more likely it's going to become that he's one and done with the Buckeyes. Again, we're not saying he's going to transfer for sure, but his first month with Ohio State simply has not gone to plan, and it's probably something Vols fans aren't too shocked by either.
