Another day, another great recruiting update for Tennessee Volunteers head coach Josh Heupel? That appears to be the case. While there's no new commitment for Heupel to celebrate right now, it sure looks like things are going great in his efforts to land a coveted 2026 prospect.

Running back Savion Hiter is a big-time talent. He's ranked a five-star running back and the No. 1 RB overall for his class. He took a return trip to Knoxville last weekend to watch the Vols host Kentucky, a game Tennessee won 28-18.

So, how did the trip go for the speedster? It looks like things couldn't have gone much better for him. While he isn't ready to shut down his recruitment, Hiter didn't hesitate in telling On3 Sports' Steve Wiftlong that he could 'see himself' playing for the Vols down the road. This is something that's sure to fire up the fanbase as a whole.

5-star RB Savion Hiter remains high on Tennessee following a recent visit

It's still early on, but Hiter has all the big-time powerhouses battling over his commitment for '26. He holds scholarship offers from Tennessee, Michigan, Georgia, Ohio State, Penn State, Florida State, Oregon, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and many others.

Hiter, a Mineral, Va. product, had to like what he saw out of the Vols' running game against the Wildcats. Those efforts were of course led by star RB Dylan Sampson, whose night actually got off to a bit of a controversial start after he was benched for an extended period of time.

However, Sampson responded in the best way possible for Josh Heupel, rushing for 142 yards and two touchdowns. He also set the new single-season record for rushing TDs for the program. Hiter was able to see what Sampson could do with the ball in his hands and he couldn't help but wonder what he might be able to get done if he decides Tennessee will be his college home. There's still a long road to win this recruiting battle, but Heupel and Co. are in a good spot.
