With everything going on at Tennessee football fall camp, you'd think that Josh Heupel would take a breather with recruiting, right? Not a chance. It never sleeps and this is something the veteran head coach knows all about.

It's not just the 2026 class that he's focused on, however. Heupel is working to make an early impact on plenty of 2027 prospects too. There's a new recruit for Vols fans to keep an eye on moving forward. That'd be signal-caller Israel Abrams. According to 247Sports' Allen Trieu, the touted quarterback will be in Knoxville this season to watch UT in action:

4-star QB Israel Abrams has locked in a Tennessee football visit

It's not known exactly when Abrams will be taking his trip to Tennessee, but look for Heupel and the Vols staff to prioritize getting him on campus for a huge home game weekend. Potentially the Week 3 showdown against Georgia in September?

Tennessee isn't the only visit on the way for the 6-4, 185-pounder, as he'll also make stops at Northwestern, Wisconsin, Purdue and Iowa State. Throughout his recruitment, the Illinois product has picked up 15 offers early on.

With him only getting ready for his junior year of high school, the expectation is that his offers list will explode in the coming months, especially if he puts on a show this campaign. Tennessee's quarterback depth is looking pretty strong for the future, but getting a '27 pledge out of the way early on will be quite important for Heupel.

For the 2026 class, everyone is hyped about 5-star playmaker Faizon Brandon, who is ranked the No. 1 QB in the country. Imagine if Heupel follows things up next year by signing the nation's No. 5 ranked QB - yeah, that'd be pretty special for him.

We're not going to get too ahead of ourselves with Abrams, as there's no set timeline for when he'll make his decision and plenty of other teams are fighting for his verbal. Despite that, he's clearly got high interest in Tennessee and Heupel can really make an impact on him during his fall visit.
