Anyone else still buzzing after the Tennessee football team was able to win a key in-state recruiting battle? On Monday, the Vols picked up the commitment of 4-star athlete Joel Wyatt, taking down Vanderbilt, North Carolina, LSU and many others in the process.
Throughout his recruitment, the Tennessee staff made Wyatt feel like a priority and it played a big role in his decision. Oh, and there was also a future Vol in his ear working to make his life-changing call an easy one.
That'd be 5-star quarterback pledge Faizon Brandon, who indeed helped out with the recruiting efforts. As you might have been able to guess, Brandon was pretty excited when Wyatt revealed that he was going to be taking his talents to Knoxville to play his college ball:

That 'welcome home' sure brought plenty of smiles for Vols fans, who are loving what they're seeing out of Brandon. He hasn't even suited up for Tennessee yet and he's winning over a lot of people because of the pride he's taking in helping build things up for the program.
Oh, and he's not done yet. There are several elite targets the Vols remain finalists for and Brandon is working overtime to help send Tennessee over the top. The list of course includes 5-star wide receiver Tristen Keys and 5-star running back Savion Hiter.
As planned by Josh Heupel, Brandon and Keys were on campus together in June for what turned out to be a special visit. Since then, Brandon has continued to reach out to Keys to sell him on the two of them leading the UT aerial attack for 3-4 years together.
Not to be outdone, Hiter is also a huge target for Heupel and he's all set to make his college announcement in August. Hiter is down to Tennessee, Michigan, Georgia and Ohio State, though many believe this is a two-team race between the Vols and Wolverines.
As things stand, Tennessee's 2026 class is sitting just outside of the Top 10 nationally, but there's plenty of time to move up in the rankings. Bringing in either Hiter or Keys (or both) would be unreal for Heupel and his staff. Brandon will keep on working to make sure even more good news comes in for his future school.
