New angle of Nico Iamaleava talking smack after TD is something Vols fans will love
While things were a bit scary early on, the Tennessee Vols were able to remind Vanderbilt who the top team in the state is. Yup, the Commodores jumped out to a 14-0 lead, but after a rough start, the Vols turned things around in the best way possible, posting a dominant victory.
We don't have to tell you that quarterback Nico Iamaleava played a big role in things, as outside of a rough interception on a deep ball, he was stellar tossing the ball all over the field. In the second quarter, his go-ahead touchdown to Miles Kitselman was a total dime.
Following that TD toss, plenty of Tennessee and Vanderbilt players were jawing back and forth. Out of nowhere, Iamaleava jumped into the mix and was talking plenty of trash as well. The Vandy players were chirping all game and Iamaleava finally had enough:
Nico Iamaleava and the Vols are surely headed to the College Football Playoff
This was a perfect throw from Iamaleava and he wanted to let Vanderbilt's Kolbey Taylor know all about it. On the day, Iamaleava looked strong, throwing for four touchdowns. Let's also give credit to Kitselman here, as he made a great catch on the TD and was able to hang on to the ball after falling to the turf too.
With the victory, Tennessee has closed out the regular season with a 10-2 record. More importantly, after being ranked No. 8 in the CFP rankings last week, they'll surely be among the final 12 teams left standing hoping to push for a natty.
There are still some things to worry about ahead of the first round, including Dylan Sampson taking care of the ball, but things are looking strong for the Vols. This team could be getting ready to host another game at Neyland Stadium too. Should that be the case, look for Iamaleava to ball out one last time this season in Knoxville for people to enjoy.
