While Florida was able to take down then No. 9 Texas in a massive upset last weekend, it doesn't change much when it comes to Billy Napier. His seat is red hot and calls for him to get fired have been coming in from the Gators fanbase for quite some time.
According to Brett McMurphy, the win over Sark and the Longhorns did nothing but just put a band-aid on things. Per McMurphy's sources, Napier still needs a bit of a miracle run the rest of the season to save his job and get him back for 2026. With Tennessee football taking on Florida in the second-to-last game of the year, could the Vols play a role in getting him fired?

Florida is off its most impressive performance of season in win vs. Texas, but Billy Napier still needs a "magical run, a miracle finish" to return in 2026, sources told @On3sports https://t.co/cYniKsE5ZT

Billy Napier's future with the Florida Gators could not be more up in the air
This sure makes it feel like Florida is ready to move on from Napier. This was supposed to be a campaign where the program turned everything around. However, the stunning home loss to USF had countless people in Gainesville livid with Napier.
That was followed up with losses to LSU and Miami before the shocking result at home against the Longhorns. Again, though, that win over Texas alone isn't going to save Napier and he needs to make sure his team is at its best for the rest of the schedule in '25.
This includes the matchup on Nov. 22 at The Swamp against Tennessee. As of this writing, the Vols are averaging a head-turning 51 points per game on offense and Joey Aguilar is going to want to throw the ball all over the field against the Gators in November.
Napier and his defense are going to have their hands full trying to slow down Aguilar, Chris Brazzell II and the rest of the high-powered Vols offense. Tennessee will hope to record a convincing win against Florida in that game and it will have plenty of confidence in doing so.
This might end up being a make-or-break contest for Napier. With a loss, it could all but be the final nail in the coffin for him and his time in Florida. He was supposed to get the program back to where it used to be, but the opposite has been the case for him.
