Nico Iamaleava's dad slams 'clowns' on the CFP committee over Tennessee's spot
Are you still pretty upset over the latest edition of the College Football Playoff rankings? You're not the only one. Tennessee, following the loss to Georgia on Saturday, is now 8-2 on the year and the No. 11 team in the country per the CFP committee.
While they're inside of the Top 12, Tennessee is projected to be the 'first team out' due to the automatic bids that conference winners get. This has plenty of people livid, especially with teams like Alabama and Ole Miss ahead of the Vols.
Nico Iamaleava's dad is on that list. Shortly after the rankings were announced, an ESPN graphic went viral among the UT fanbase, which highlighted key wins for Texas including one over Arkansas, Yet, Tennessee's close road loss to the Razorbacks was a bad one? The elder Iamaleava saw this and didn't hold back giving his thoughts:

Where is the consistency? We understand things are tough for the committee with so many teams close and having wins over one another, but it can't be claimed that Texas is looking good for beating Arkansas, but Tennessee is getting penalized for the defeat at the hands of its SEC rival.
As things stand, Tennessee indeed will miss out on the 2024 College Football Playoff unless they get some help. Earlier this week, ESPN came out with new bowl projections, with Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach having the Vols in the Cheez-It Bowl and Gator Bowl, respectively. Both of those bowl appearances would be disappointing for Josh Heupel and Co.
There's still plenty of time for things to change, however. If Ohio State dominates Indiana, hopefully that opens up the committee's eyes. Should Ole Miss lose to Florida, that'd be massive for the Vols. Over the next two weeks, Tennessee must play close to perfect football too.
On Saturday, the Vols will host UTEP and then the regular season will come to a close against Vanderbilt. Going 2-0 is an absolute must, that's obvious. There's an uphill climb for the Tennessee playmakers, but there's still reason to be optimistic they can make the CFP. The committee sure isn't helping them, though, which is a joke.
