We have our Friday evening Tennessee Sweet 16 game time against Iowa State. The Vols have to travel to Chicago to take on a very good Iowa State team who had a phenomenal season in the Big 12.

Rick Barnes finally admitted what every Tennessee fan already knew

No. 6 Tennessee vs. No. 2 Iowa State tip time and location

  • Date: 3/27
  • Time: 10:10 P.M. ET
  • Network: TBS/TRUTV
  • Location: Chicago, Illinois (United Center)
  • Broadcasters: Catalon / Lappas / Washburn

Vols fans will have to drink their coffee, energy drinks, or whatever their caffeine of choice is, because they have a very late start. The good news is that they will have a day game on Sunday if they are lucky enough to move on to the Elite Eight.

With the No. 1 seed Michigan and likely Alabama game starting at 7:35, Tennessee will probably start close to 10:30 ET or even later, as the games typically go longer than they allot for. The good news is it’s Friday night, so many Vols fans will be able to stay up late for the game.

Rick Barnes will have his hands full this week watching film. The Iowa State team is coached by TJ Otzelberger, one of the hottest coaching candidates in the sport. Their star player, guard Joshua Jefferson, has been out with an ankle injury, but he could return Friday night. Iowa State has proved they can win without him, as they just demolished Kentucky despite losing their star player.

Iowa State runs a very aggressive defense based on hard hedges. Gillespie will have to be on point with his passes as there will be an open man when their bigs come up and hedge Tennessee's ball screens. Iowa Satte will force a lot of turnovers, something Tennessee has struggled with all year. Taking care of the ball will be priority number one for Barnes this week.

There is no denying the Cyclones are a top team in the country. Tennessee is right now a +3.5 point underdog according to Fanduel, so they have a legit shot at pulling off an upset.
