Well, when it rains, it pours, and the Tennessee women’s basketball team has been under a raincloud for quite some time, it feels like. After going 16-14, the Lady Vols have just taken another hit as two more players have entered the Transfer Portal.
It is reported by On3's Talia Goodman that freshmen twins Mia and Mya Pauldo are planning to enter the transfer portal. Mia was a McDonald’s All-American last year and the No. 12-ranked recruit according to 247Sports. Mya came into Tennessee as a top 60 overall recruit
Mia finished third on Tennessee in scoring, averaging 10.4 points per game. A lot of people expected her and her sister to take a big leap in their sophomore seasons, and they still might, but it looks like it won’t happen in Knoxville. The twins now join Alyssa Latham, Deniya Prawl, Kaniya Boyd, and Lauren Hurst as Lady Vols in the portal.

Presusure is building on Kim Caldwell after losing Mia and Mya Pauldo
Losing two freshmen who were expected to take a big leap hurts; there is just no other way to put it. Kim Caldwell needs to have her biggest off-season as the Tennessee women’s basketball coach because if she doesn’t, it will likely be her last. Pressure was building on Danny White after the 14-loss season, and if Cladswell replicates that against her, she likely will be fired.
The seat is getting hotter and hotter for Caldwell, and with six players already leaving the program, it feels like the Lady Vols are taking one step forward and then two steps back. Expect Tennessee to be very active in the Transfer Portal, as Caldwell needs multiple win-now players who will buy into her system. I still have hope in Kim Caldwell as the coach of Tennessee, but she needs to get the train back on the tracks sooner rather than later.
