The Tennessee baseball season is almost underway, as the Vols have been prepping all offseason under new head coach Josh Elander. Tennessee will host Nichols at Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Friday at 4:30 ET, starting oput a new era of Tennessee baseball.
Speaking of Lindsey Nelson Stadium, the $100 million multi-year renovation projects almost completed. The visual look great so far, and According to the athletics department at Tennessee these are the new features in 2026:
- NEW: Home plate entrance and plaza area
- NEW: Left field plaza entrance
- NEW: Third level suites and club space
- NEW: Additional chairback seats under a new mezzanine level
- NEW: First base line restrooms and concessions
- NEW: Left field bar on main concourse (behind the current 4Topps section)
- NEW: Kitchen, which will enhance the food offerings throughout Lindsey Nelson Stadium
- NEW: Ticket office and team merchandise shop inside the main entrance

The third-level suites look amazing, as they fill in the empty space that was once there very nicely. The seatbacks in the mezzanine level look very nice, too. The favorite part for many fans has to be left field, bar though, as the photos make it look like a great place to watch a game.
New Lindsey Nelson Stadium is going to be tremendous.

Tennessee baseball has high hopes for 2026
Even after losing Tony Vitello to the San Francisco Giants, the Vols are in good hands with Josh Elander running the program. Tennessee’s recruiting has been strong, with players embracing Elander’s vision and excitement for the program. Elander added University of Virginia star first baseman Henry Ford this offseason and East Tennessee State reliever Brady Frederick. Both players were named preseason All-Americans.
The Perfect Game inaugural poll has Tennessee ranked as the No. 3 team in the country, so despite losing out on the star coach, the Vols should make a run to Omaha come June.
