No one can overlook the first two games of the season for the Tennessee football team. With that said, it's safe to say that plenty of people are already looking forward to the massive showdown on the way between the Vols and Georgia come Week 3.
As it turns out, that weekend in Knoxville is going to be made even more important thanks to one of the top prospects in the country making his way to town. Yup, Steve Wiltfong has reported that Cooper Witten will visit for the Georgia game.
He's the son of Jason Witten, a future Pro Football Hall of Famer. The elder Witten was a superstar for the Vols and now Josh Heupel is hoping that his son will decide to don an orange jersey at the next level just like his dad. How things go in September for the prized linebacker could make a gigantic difference for his college decision.

Cooper Witten will take a huge visit to Tennessee football for the Georgia game
As Wiltfong noted, there are several other fall visits on the way for the '27 product, with him also planning to go to Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Clemson. Keep in mind too that Notre Dame has been turning his head quite a bit too, with Marcus Freeman charging hard.
It goes without saying, but Cooper Witten is considered a top priority for Heupel and Co. for the 2027 group. According to the 247Sports Composite, the 6-1, 210-pounder is ranked five stars, the No. 1 linebacker in the country, No. 4 player from Texas and No. 12 prospect nationally for his class.
He's closing in on 30 offers this cycle, with Tennessee, Ohio State, Texas, Notre Dame, Alabama and many others on his list. There's no timetable for when Cooper Witten will be shutting down his recruitment, but his trips in the fall could give him clarity on where he wants to play his college ball.
As of this writing, Tennessee holds 22 pledges for the 2026 class and one verbal for '27 - that'd be linebacker JP Peace, who is also a Vols legacy. Might Cooper Witten decide to join Peace on that list down the road? Fans hope so and we could look back on his time in Knoxville in September as part of the reason why he eventually commits to the Vols. It'd be unreal if that happens.
