Many folks have been wondering what is going on in Tennessee's frontcourt next season. Rick Barnes secured commitments from Loyola Chicago defensive anchor Miles Rubin, and power forward Dwayne Brown II has confirmed he is returning to Knoxville next season, but aside from them, the Vols are pretty thin up front.
Latest Juke Harris news is a problem that Rick Barnes is prepared for
Tennessee did pick up a commitment from Christopher Washington Jr, a 6-foot-9 forward who could slide in at the four spot, but right now Rubin is the only player on the roster who is capable of playing center. However, Washington isn’t expected to have a major role next season, so he is considered more of a depth guy in his first year on campus.
The good news? Barnes is getting Tennessee involved with a 6-foot-11 big man from Denmark. The Vols are hosting former Oregon State Center Johan Munch next Friday after he visits SMU. Last year, he averaged 7.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists.

Oregon State center Johan Munch is visiting Tennessee next week
This is a big addition for Tennessee, both figuratively and literally. At 6-foot-11, 220 pounds, Munch fits exactly what Rick Barnes looks for: physical rebounding and great defense. He’s not a huge offensive threat, but he can finish at the rim and draw fouls consistently. It looks like the biggest threat for Much is SMU right now, which Tennessee shouldn't have trouble holding off. If they can land Munch, it would be a very good addition. I don't think he will break the bank, and he will do what the Vols need out of a center.
Tennessee has also been linked to several high-profile recruits at the five spot, most notably former Cincinnati center Moustapha Thiam. However, the Vols are likely out of the running, as he has drawn interest from multiple blue-blood programs. With Tennessee already allocating significant resources toward Jalen Haralson, Juke Harris, and Terrance Hill Jr., they may have to make sacrifices elsewhere.
However, if losing Thiam means getting Munch at a cheaper rate I'm all for it. Go get it done coach Barnes.
