Why is it that whenever it could not be more clear that a night game should make its way to Neyland Stadium, the opposite ends up happening? This is what we now have on the table for Tennessee going up against Alabama on Oct. 17, with countless people livid that a 3:30 p.m. kickoff has arrived. Say it ain't so!
Honestly, we don't blame anyone for being a bit ticked off. Reason No. 1 to be upset? While a mid-afternoon kick is good for families, a night game would have set the tone for what we're all hoping would have been a monster upset in Knoxville.
Instead, a 3:30 p.m. kick is indeed here, and Bama will avoid having to play in the most difficult atmosphere imaginable. Reason No. 2 this sucks? Because at this point last year, it was a primetime showdown in Tuscaloosa at night with the rest of the country watching. Bama took advantage of that and took care of business. So, why isn't the same opportunity on the table for the Vols?

Tennessee vs. Alabama kicking off at 3:30 p.m. ET is a bit of a joke
For some people, this may not seem like a big deal, but a quick look on both X and Facebook shows that members of the Tennessee faithful could not be more disgusted with the fact that we're not getting this one under the bright lights.
Oh, but remember that we got a night game for the Kennesaw State game in Week 3, so all is well! Not quite. Instead of the rest of the country getting ready to watch Bama and the Vols go to war for the blockbuster evening slot, people can enjoy Miami vs. Florida State at 7 p.m. ET instead. You've got to be kidding.
Yes, we get that there's an in-state rivalry there and Mario Cristobal could end up being the one to send Mike Norvell packing, but this is the Third Saturday in October that we're talking about here. Barring a shocker, both teams will be ranked in the Top 15, which will only make things even more intriguing instead of kickoff.
Three of the last four Tennessee-Alabama games at Bryant-Denny Stadium have been night games.

Tennessee-Alabama haven't played a night game at Neyland Stadium since 2014.
Yes, Miami is one of the top teams in the country, but Florida State is nowhere close to the Top 25. There's simply no reason ESPN should be prioritizing that game over Tennessee vs. Alabama, but there's nothing that can be done about things right now.
Instead, all Tennessee will continue to focus on is keep getting better with each day of practice, as Arkansas is up first. It's unknown if Faizon Brandon or George MacIntyre will get the starting nod, but there's a good chance whoever starts vs. the Razorbacks will get the nod against Bama too. Unfortunately for either Brandon or G-Mac, that dance with the Tide will be earlier than plenty of us would have wanted. This would have been a perfect night game, period, but it's not coming - and there's really no good reason why that's the case here.
