This weekend just got even more intriguing for Tennessee Volunteers head coach Josh Heupel and his staff. That's because on top of the Vols hosting UTEP for the final home game of the regular season, there will be several top targets in town.
Fans already know about running back Daune Morris, an in-state speedster who is currently a USC commit. Well, you can go ahead and add four-star defensive lineman Isaiah Campbell to the list. According to On3's Steve Wiltfong, Campbell will be in Knoxville for the UTEP tilt. Not only that, but Wiltfong has also reported the Vols are in a battle with North Carolina ahead of the Early Signing Period getting here:
4-star DL Isaiah Campbell will visit Tennessee this weekend
Campbell is a Durham, N.C. product, so you'd think staying close to home and suiting up for the Tar Heels is something that would appeal to him. However, Heupel and Co. are clearly trying to sell the great success Tennessee is having to the 6-4, 275-pounder.
Campbell is one of the top uncommitted players left in the country, with countless people waiting to see where he'll be playing his college ball. This is not Campbell's first time to Knoxville either, as he took his official visit to town in October.
He just took his official visit to Chapel Hill, which was an eye-opening trip for him. Now, with the Early Signing Period less than two weeks away, Campbell is taking one last trip to meet with the Tennessee coaches before he makes his final decision.
As is the case with Morris, the next few days could be the difference in whether or not Campbell decides to commit to Tennessee, or if he decides to stay home and play for North Carolina. We should have an answer there soon, but a head-turning performance and dominant win for Tennessee over UTEP could be what sends Heupel and the Vols over the top.
