It's been a wild day already for Tennessee football and kickoff for the showdown against Oklahoma hasn't even arrived as of this writing. First, news broke that 4-star commit Legend Bey is taking an official visit to Ohio State this weekend. That's the bad news.
Tennessee facing College Football Playoff elimination game vs. Oklahoma
The good news, however, is that it looks like Josh Heupel also has a trick up on his sleeve. That's because 4-star EDGE Jordan Carter backed off his commitment to Texas A&M, but reporter Austin Price said that Carter is also going to be on hand to watch the Vols try to take down the Sooners. It goes without saying, but this is a big-time visit:

Tennessee football and Josh Heupel are hoping to land 4-star EDGE Jordan Carter
Earlier in the week, 3-star EDGE Braylon Outlaw decommitted from Tennessee and all signs are pointing to him flipping to Georgia Tech - he took a visit to the ACC school last weekend. That opened the door for Heupel to shift his pass-rusher focus elsewhere and Carter would be a great addition to an already loaded 2026 class.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Carter is ranked four stars, the No. 17 EDGE in the country and No. 139 prospect nationally. He's an elite playmaker and he was born to take down quarterbacks. The questions begs, will he end up being Knoxville-bound to play for the Vols?
That's up in the air, but it would no question be exciting news for Tennessee if Heupel can get this done. You know what will help with those efforts? If the Vols can take down Oklahoma on Saturday night in front of more than 100,000 people at Neyland Stadium.
This is essentially a College Football Playoff elimination game for both teams. With a win, Tennessee will remain in the hunt, but with a loss, it will bring to an end the dreams of getting back to the CFP for the second straight year. Carter and everyone else on campus will be hoping for a UT win. And if that job gets done, it won't be a shocker at all to see Carter make a quick decision in terms of another commitment.
