We know what some of you might be thinking: the Tennessee football team was robbed of a primetime showdown against Georgia for the monster Week 3 clash. However, with the kickoff time being set, it's a 3:30 p.m. ET dance between the two SEC powerhouses.
Yes, a night game at Neyland Stadium would have been epic. However, after it was announced that Week 1 was going to kickoff at 12 p.m. between the Vols and Syracuse, people were worried that maybe that same time would arrive to take on UGA. Thankfully, that's not the case and 3:30 no question is fantastic. Knoxville is going to be ROCKING all day for that one:
Neyland Stadium is going to be packed for Tennessee vs. UGA in Week 3
Again, we sure wish it would have been a night game, but it's hard to beat a late afternoon game in September at Neyland. More than enough time to fire up the grill and enjoy some awesome tailgating outside of the stadium too.
The Vols are going to have some revenge on their minds, as the Bulldogs, led by Carson Beck at the time, took down Tennessee in primetime last fall. This time around, Nico Iamaleava won't be behind center for UT, as Joey Aguilar is expected to take over the offense.
If everything goes to plan, Tennessee will be 2-0 on the year leading up to this matchup with Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. If that's the case, Aguilar, assuming he wins the QB1 job over Jake Merklinger and George MacIntyre, will enter the Week 3 tilt with a ton of confidence.
This is going to be the veteran QB's first major SEC showdown too. From our chair, having this game not get the primetime treatment will help take off some extra pressure for Aguilar. Go ahead and circle Saturday, Sept. 13 on your calendars if you haven't already. The Vols will be ready to shock the country.
