Growing up, seemingly every college football fan loved playing the College Football video game by EA Sports. After a 10-year hiatus, the game returned in 2025, and college football fans rejoiced. Tennessee fans were able to watch fan favorites over the past couple of years, like Jermod McCoy, DeSean Bishop, Dylan Sampson, Chris Brazzell, and others, while rebuilding the Vols into a long-term championship dynasty.
George MacIntyre’s Manning Passing Academy showing could shake up the Tennessee QB battle
With that, the new game is coming out for the 2026-27 seaosn in less than a month, and EA Sports has begun to release rosters, and Tennessee fans should be overall happy with where they land on their ratings list.
The Vols come into the game as an 85 overall on offense and 85 on defense, making for an 85 overall. Notably, they are rated higher than Auburn, Clemson, Nebraska, and Penn State, and have the same overall rating as Michigan and Missouri.

Tennessee is an 85 overall in CFB 27
With Tennessee coming in at an 85, it actually feels fair given what we know about the Vols roster. The biggest thing holding them back, is the quarterback rating, which I don't see George MacIntyre or Faizon Brandon landing very high since they haven't played much college football. In the 26-game, MacIntyre was rated a 73 overall. With the game's natural rating boost, MacIntyre likely ends up in the high 70s in 27. Brandon, on the other hand, is a true freshman and a highly rated quarterback. For comparison, Bryce Underwood came into last year’s game as an 82 overall as a freshman, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Brandon start around an 80 overall.
Digging deeper, DeSean Bishop is likely Tennessee's highest-rated player, and he should end up in the 90s as an All-SEC player last season. He was an 88 overall in last year's games, and given that he's Tennessee's highest-rated returning player, it's fair to assume that he will be Tennessee's best-rated overall player.
Penn State transfer linebacker Amare Campbell was an 87 overall in last year's game and should be a big boost for the Vols. As a freshman, Chaz Coleman ended the year with an 80 overall, so I'm sure he'll receive a major boost in the game. Tennessee can hopefully get him on the field this fall, as he'd be a major addition coming off the edge. Kayin Lee, who will start at cornerback beside Ty Redmond was an 86 overall at Auburn. Both sides of the ball have real talent, no doubt.
What stands out here is that Tennessee has a lot of talent on its roster of real-life players. That said, and obviously it’s just a video game, but it is based on real-life production and talent. Is Tennessee the best team on paper in the game or in real life? No. However, they do have a lot of strong chess pieces on the board, and while Tennessee isn’t elite in the game, they’re dangerous because of depth and skill talent.
