We're just two days from the NFL Draft, one of sports' most exciting nights. With Tennessee possibly having two first-round picks, fans nationwide will be eager to see where Jermod McCoy and Colton Hood are selected. Another significant reason Vols fans should feel compelled to watch is that Tennessee has a real chance to break its record for the most first-round players on Thursday night.

Tennessee is set to continue their historic run of NFL WR's this week

The Tennessee Vols have consistently sent players to the NFL at a high level. Since the start of the common draft era in 1967, they’ve had 46 first-round picks, tied for seventh all time. They are also fourth in the SEC only pick selection behind Georgia.

Tennesse could jump Notre Dame, Michigan, and Florida State this Thursday

The only top prospect Notre Dame has in this year’s draft is running back Jeremiah Love, who will be a top 10 pick, no doubt. Besides Love, they do not have anyone expected to go in the top 32 picks.
Taking a deeper look, Michigan only has one guy projected in the top two rounds, and it’s edge Derrick Moore, who will likely be a second-round pick. Regarding Florida State, the only player who might be a first-round candidate is Darrell Jackson, though he is currently expected to go in the late second round.

Based on the fact that Tennessee has two potential first-round picks, they have a real shot to jump all three of these schools. One of the biggest factors in recruiting is being able to produce talent that succeeds at the next level. Tennessee has proven it can do this in the Josh Heupel era, and it helped him land his best class since joining the Vols this past offseason. It also strengthens the long-term identity of the program. Players like Peyton Manning and Reggie White are forever tied to Tennessee because of what they accomplished in the NFL.

While nothing is guaranteed, the Vols have a real chance to hop all three programs here with Jermod McCoy and Colton Hood both potentially going in the first round.
