For Week 8, Tennessee and Josh Heupel know what's on the line. Fresh off an emotional win against then No. 6 Alabama, the Vols are riding high, but Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks are ready to bring UT back down to earth a bit. From our chair, this has trap game written all over it, and despite Tennessee opening as 2.5-point favorites, that's no longer the case.

Those odds have since done a total flip, with the Gamecocks now listed as 2.5-point favorites according to the FanDuel Sportsbook. The Vols are once again starting George MacIntyre, and the second-year QB will be ready for his second SEC road test. However, does Vegas think Dylan Stewart and Co. will be able to rattle him all game with this betting line getting updated like this?

South Carolina is now the betting favorite against Tennessee in a tricky game for the Vols

Had the Gamecocks and Vols gone to battle just a couple of weeks ago, we would have said Tennessee wouldn't break a sweat in breaking hearts for the home fans on Saturday. South Carolina was riding a three-game losing streak, with Beamer's seat getting hotter than ever.

Everything changed after LaNorris Sellers and Co. absolutely stunned Florida at The Swamp leading up to South Carolina's bye week. The Gamecocks showed toughness we hadn't seen from the team in a long time, leading Jon Sumrall to call out the Gators not too long after the final whistle.

Because of that, South Carolina will enter this meeting with Tennessee having some extra pep in its step. Add in a bunch of jacked-up SC supporters at Williams-Brice Stadium, and it could lead to a bit of a disaster for Tennessee.

Still, with how strong Jim Knowles' defense is playing, and with DeSean Bishop carrying the ball like one of the top running backs in the country, you'd be a darn fool to count out the young men from Knoxville. In the win over Alabama, Tennessee showcased to the rest of the country that this group has what it takes to not only reach the College Football Playoff, but also go on a bit of a run.

Outside of the 20-17 loss to Texas, this team has been battle-tested and has come out on the other side with wins. In this contest with South Carolina, more of the same is going to be on the way, and G-Mac could end up being the one to help the Vols ride out the waves to post what could be a heart-stopping win.

Again, the Gamecocks may be riding high, and with them now favored by a touch under a field goal, it may have people on campus fired up for an upset of the No. 11 team in the country. It'll be on MacIntyre, Bishop, Arion Carter, and the rest of the Vols standouts to make sure that does not happen.
