Tennessee and Josh Heupel have been rolling on the recruiting trail after a strong few weeks of spring practice. The biggest takeaway has been how good the defense looks under Jim Knowles, and with official visits right around the corner, the talent pipeline for the Vols will only get stronger.

With that in mind, Heupel and the Vols have made another top five. This time, Tennessee made the cut for four-star linebacker Roman Igwebuilke from Chicago. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker is a top 150 player in the class of 2027 and a four-star prospect. Like most recruitments, the Vols are in. It won't be easy to land Igwebuike. The Vols are facing off against Missouri, Clemson, Notre Dame, and the defending national champions, Indiana.

Tennessee makes the top 5 for linebacker Roman Igwebuike

The most impressive groupt he Vosl have been recruiiting on defens eis by far the klinebackers, Tenensse lande dTJ White and Brayden Rouse lasy etyar, two top-100 players who have big furtr sahead. ,If they can add IgweBuike to the mix they wpuld have an amzing haul.

The four-star linebacker is set to visit Tennessee next month for his official. If the Vols impress, they’ve got a real shot to land him. Igwebuikle's biggest traits are effort and toughness, as he’s a physical, gritty player who loves to get his nose dirty in the run game. He feels like the perfect fit for Jim Knowles’ system. He's got an athletic frame for a 4-2-5 linebacker, which is what the Vols need more of.

Josh Heupel and William Inge have done a strong job developing and recruiting linebackers. If they add Igwebuike, it would only reinforce that progress.

As of now, the Vosl only have seven commits, but by the end of June, that number will be doubled and maybe even tripled.
