Despite several Tennessee football players announcing their intentions to leave Knoxville soon, that doesn't mean it's all bad for head coach Josh Heupel and his staff. The transfer portal takes players away, but it also opens the door for playmakers to join the roster.
Will this end up being the case for Arizona offensive lineman Wendell Moe Jr. soon? Moe is in the portal and the offers are starting to roll in for him. On Tuesday morning, he announced that the Vols put a scholarship on the table for him. There's still competition to land his services, but could Heupel and Co. get him to town?
Arizona OL transfer Wendell Moe Jr. has been offered by Tennessee and Josh Heupel
Moe is a massive specimen, as he checks in at 6-2, 340 pounds. He's of course best suited for the interior offensive line, which Tennessee could use some help with moving forward. You can never have enough depth up front and Moe's size alone would make him a welcome addition.
Oh, but let's not forget he's also a monster in the trenches and is known for doing fantastic work going up against opposing defensive linemen. A quick look on his social media shows that Tennessee, Arizona State, USC, Miami and others have offered this week.
The portal just opened up on Monday and teams aren't wasting any time in trying to turn Moe's head. The next step of course would be for Tennessee to try and get the big fella on campus for an official visit, but the Vols won't be the only ones wanting him to visit.
Soon enough, we'll find out if Moe will be taking a trip to UT or not, but he's the exact kind of playmaker Heupel should be going after in the portal. He's been a stud for the Wildcats and the same will be the case for his next program. Who knows, maybe he'll end up playing for the Vols in 2025.
