What can we expect from the Tennessee football team against Mississippi State this weekend? Fans can't wait to find out, as while the Vols may be strong road favorites for this matchup, plenty of people have put them on 'upset watch' ahead of kickoff.
Tennessee is 3-1 on the year, while Mississippi State is a perfect 4-0. Could an upset in Starkville actually be on the horizon? We doubt it. Sure, this might have a trap game-type feel to it, but Josh Heupel knows better than to let his guys overlook an SEC opponent. This is a big reason why Tennessee will find a way to take down the Bulldogs come Week 5.
Tennessee appears to be in the driver's seat for a 5-star WR but there's a catch
Tennessee football getting back Jaxson Moi for Week 5 is huge
While Jermod McCoy is still a couple weeks out from getting back on the field, the return of defensive lineman Jaxson Moi is going to make a huge difference up front for this team. Defensive coordinator Tim Banks must be thrilled that Moi is healthy following his Week 1 injury vs. Syracuse.
Up front, there's hope that 5-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr. will finally be able to make his Tennessee debut at right tackle. That's up in the air as of this writing, though. Overall, Tennessee has better playmakers across the board too, of course including at quarterback.
What Joey Aguilar has been able to get done this season has been a pleasant surprise. He has thrown the ball all over the field and his five-touchdown performance in the heartbreaking loss against Georgia is still being talked about. For the year, Aguilar has thrown for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns.
The three-headed monster at running back features Star Thomas, DeSean Bishop and Peyton Lewis. All three will make their presence felt against MSU. Per the FanDuel sportsbook, Tennessee is a 7.5-point favorite leading up to the first snap. While we think Mississippi State will keep things close, we're rocking with the Vols to make the necessary plays in the fourth quarter to improve to 4-1.
Prediction: Tennessee 31, Mississippi State 24
