Each and every year, there's going to be an MLB managerial opening and loads of names get floated around. However, this is something that Tennessee baseball fans are keeping an eye on right now, especially when it comes to the one and only Tony Vitello.
Recently, the San Francisco Giants fired Bob Melvin and Vitello was linked as a possible candidate to take the job. Wait, what? People didn't think much of that then. However, the Atlanta Braves and Brian Snitker have also parted ways and a recent article from The Athletic has also mentioned Vitello as a name to keep an eye out for. This is surely just speculation and nothing else, right?

Tony Vitello has been linked to the open MLB jobs with the Giants and Braves
A quick look at the replies from that post from FOX Sports Knoxville shows that the Tennessee faithful aren't too worried about this. Again, whenever a job opens up and a team needs a new manager, countless options are going to get tossed out as possibilities.
If anything, this should speak to the incredible job that Vitello has done with the Vols since taking over. The fact that reporters think he has what it takes to lead a Major League ballclub is pretty cool - however, athletic director Danny White also knows how valuable he is.
Vitello is beloved all over Knoxville and the state of Tennessee for that matter. People will never forget the memorable run in 2024, which led to the program's first College Baseball World Series title. It was a spring to remember for the Vols and the future continues to look bright.
It feels like no more than a few days can go by without Vitello and his staff landing another huge commitment out on the recruiting trail. Tennessee has also loaded up via the transfer portal, which has UT supporters fired up to see what happens next season. Might a curveball arrive and Vitello ends up leaving for the bigs? We highly doubt it, as Vitello is all Tennessee and that shouldn't change.
