This is encouraging to see.

Fresh film from Tennessee’s spring practices is out, and if you’re like everyone else, you immediately go to the quarterback battle between George MacIntyre and Faizon Brandon to see how each player looks.

Is Tennessee’s secondary actually a strength this season? Josh Heupel thinks so

In the video, George MacIntyre made an unbelievable throw to new wide receiver Ian Duarte, rolling to his left and delivering a perfect backfoot pass right on the money. It’s also encouraging to see Duarte getting some run as he makes the jump from the FCS level.

Next, Faizon Brandon had a great play as well, rolling to his off hand and putting a pass right on target for wide receiver Radarious Jackson. The video cuts off, but it looks like he may have even taken it in for a touchdown.

Take a look for yourself:

Tennessee has two raw but talented quarterbacks

Given that George MacIntyre has been the first one talking reps, ESPN analyst and former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy seems to think that means he's currently in first place. However, it could just be because he knows the drills and what's expected from the quarterbacks. Either way, we still have a long way to go, but it's fun to speculate.

Regardless of who’s in the lead, both quarterbacks have shown they can deliver accurate throws on the move. Considering Tennessee will be working with some new faces on the offensive line, that trait could prove especially valuable. There’s a lot to like about both quarterbacks, and that’s what makes the spring game such a big deal. I think it’ll be fun to see who steps up and makes big plays in front of the fans in a (somewhat) live game.

There's no doubt that there will be bumps in the road, but if Tennessee can limit the turnovers and establish the run game with DeSean Bishop, both quarterbacks will be just fine.
