Here is the preview for the Tennessee vs Vanderbilt game, including live streaming, television info, kickoff time, and predictions for the Vols and Commodores.

The Tennessee Vols football team closes out the season against the in-state rival Vanderbilt Commodores looking to close out the strong finish to this season.

Butch Jones’s squad is on a four-game winning streak, and at 7-4, a win Saturday would guarantee the best season for Tennessee football since 2007, when they went 10-4 and won the SEC East.

A chance to win that game and then win a bowl game to finish 9-4 leaves open the prospect of finishing the season in the Top 25, leaving a lot at stake in this football game.

Meanwhile, Derek Mason’s Commodores have finally started to come together recently, scoring upsets against the Missouri Tigers and Kentucky Wildcats recently to move to 4-7 while also putting up a fight against the Florida Gators.

They are close losses against Western Kentucky and South Carolina away from being bowl eligible.

Despite terrible offensive play, the Commodores have adjusted to Mason’s 3-4 defense to make for one of the toughest defensive units in the SEC.

And with no bowl game to play for, a win Saturday against their hated in-state rivals to close the season could send Vandy into the offseason with a lot of momentum. So they will do everything they can to win this game.

More from Vols Football

The 18-point line in favor of Tennessee seems a little bit high given the fact that the Commodores have such a good defense and the Vols have looked inconsistent on offense the past few weeks.

Add in the fact that this game is always an ugly game, no matter how good Tennessee is or how bad Vanderbilt, and you have an ugly game in the works.

The 41.5 over/under might be a bit high as well. Bettors would be smart to take the under and bet against the Vols in the point spread in this one, particularly with Vanderbilt’s determination to win this game.

More from All for Tennessee

Tennessee does not want to be caught in another tough, ugly game. They had a relief by coasting against the Missouri Tigers last week in their 19-8 win, surprisingly covering the spread.

Jones and Mike DeBord’s game plan then was simply to run the football as much as possible and not make mistakes. They might want to employ the same game plan this week.

There is no reason to trust Vanderbilt’s offense to do anything, so why give them any chances? Playing conservative is Tennessee’s best chance.

Prediction

The All for Tennessee staff all agreed that Tennessee would win by double-digits, but there was a split on whether or not the Vols will cover. The majority said they would not.

The cumulative average score among the predictions would mean Tennessee winning the game 25-9. A 16-point Tennessee victory would sit well with anybody in Knoxville. Just getting out of this game with a win is all that matters.

Weather

Tennessee and Vanderbilt are looking at cloudy weather with 63 degree temperatures at kickoff at 4 p.m., according to The Weather Channel online. There is a slight chance of rain throughout the day, and it will definitely be moist.

The weather overall should not play a factor, but if there is any rain, Joshua Dobbs needs to make sure he avoids his bad habit of fumbling the ball, as everybody else has to do, if the Vols are to win this game.
