On Thursday, for the second straight year, Vols quarterback Nathan Peterman learned he wouldn’t be the starting quarterback at Tennessee.
Peterman, having been through this before, wasn’t caught off guard by the news.
"Peterman: It’s not something that’s happening to me for the first time, so I’m kind of experienced in knowing how to handle this and knowing that really anything can happen in the season. So I’m going to stay ready and also help out Justin and support him. He’s done a great job in camp and really earned it."
Peterman, a redshirt sophomore, went on to say that he had his “best spring ever”, but he also mentioned that Worley is delivering the ball very accurately and managing the offense very well as a whole.
(It should be noted that Worley complimented Peterman and Dobbs, saying that they are playing “lights out”.)
As far as practice has went, Peterman’s had a great fall. Some folks even think he’s outplayed Worley during the first two weeks of fall camp, but the coaching staff still believes Worley gives the team the best chance to win.

Peterman is still battling Dobbs for the backup job, a competition that Jones said was ongoing.
We saw last season that you can quickly go from not traveling with the team, to starting the final four games of the season. If you’re a quarterback on an SEC roster, you’ve always got to be ready.
And that’s exactly what Nate Peterman plans to do, saying on Thursday “I’m still going to go out there and give it my all”.
