Don’t look now, but the Vols have a quarterback that’s being recognized as one of the best in the nation.
Joshua Dobbs, making his first start of the season for the Volunteers, picked up a multitude of honors following his breakout performance against South Carolina this past weekend.
On Thursday, the sophomore from Alpharetta, GA added another honor to his growing list of accolades — Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.

Dobbs won the award after winning the vote in the Allstate Sugar Bowl’s Facebook contest. Tennessee’s second year signal-caller received 3,022 votes.
The next closest competitors were Notre Dame’s Everett Golson with 2,248 votes and Oklahoma’s Trevor Knight with 1,531 votes.
Dobbs wins the award after setting a Tennessee record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 166. He also threw for 301 yards and accounted for five total touchdowns (three rushing, two passing) in the Vols’ win over South Carolina.
It’s fair to say the Vols have found their quarterback of the future.
Tennessee’s offense looked dynamic with Dobbs under center. With Dobbs taking snaps, the running game has opened up more than it has all season. The offensive line is playing better and the Volunteer offense finally looks like it has an identity.
Dobbs will make his second start for the Vols on November 15. He’ll look to keep it going against Kentucky as the Vols try to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2010.
