According to various reports, the Tennessee Volunteers will play a home non-conference game against East Tennessee State in 2018.
The Buccaneers’ football program has been out of commission since 2003. They are set to play their first game since the 2003 season in 2015.
Former Tennessee Volunteers walk-on Carl Torbush (former head coach at North Carolina) will be at the helm for East Tennessee State.
The meeting between the two schools will be the first ever on the gridiron.

Tennessee also plays West Virginia and UNC-Charlotte in 2018.
The Johnson City Press reports that East Tennessee State is expected to receive more than $400,000 for their game against the Vols.
Tennessee, hopefully for Vol fans, will in the sixth season of the Butch Jones era in 2018. The expectation, especially considering the recruiting classes the Volunteers are compiling, is that Tennessee will be competing for national championships (or perhaps won one) by then.
Unfortunately there’s no way to look to the future to see if that will be the case, but one thing is certain — Tennessee will be a forced to be reckoned with as soon as next season.
