Vols commit Devante Brooks, a 2016 tight end/defensive end from Washington, DC (St. John’s College), picked up an offer from Alabama on Friday evening.
247Sports rates Brooks, who committed to Tennessee on January 15, as a four-star recruit and the ninth best 2016 tight end in the nation.
In addition to Brooks’ offers from Alabama and Tennessee, also has notable offers from Kentucky, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and West Virginia, among several others.
Brooks is one of the top 2016 tight ends in the nation. Tennessee will undoubtedly face a lot of competition for the talented D.C. native.

This is a player that Butch Jones and his staff can’t afford to lose. The Vols don’t have a ton of talent/depth at tight end and Brooks is the type of player that could make a significant impact in the passing game.
Brooks, who unofficially visited Tennessee for their game against Chattanooga this past season, looks to be pretty solid to the Volunteers, but there’s still a long way to go until National Signing Day 2016.
