2017 four-star defensive end Corey Malone-Hatcher picked up his first SEC offer on Monday — from the Tennessee Volunteers.

Malone-Hatcher, 6’3″/235 lbs from Saint Joseph, MI (St. Joseph), is rated by 247Sports as the fourth best 2017 player in the state of Michigan and the fourth best 2017 weakside defensive end in the nation.

Malone-Hatcher has notable offers from Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State, among several others.

The highly touted Michigan native is obviously very talented — you can tell by his already impressive offer sheet. But Malone-Hathcher, at 235 lbs, will need to significantly bulk up in order to play defensive end at the next level. His current size is better suited at linebacker.

Position aside, there’s no doubt that Tennessee would love to sign Malone-Hatcher. And Butch Jones (along with his entire staff) has the strong Michigan ties to make it happen.

However, it’s tough to land elite players in the state of Michigan when you’re going up against the Wolverines, Spartans and Buckeyes.
