Vols Recruiting: Austin Kendall Decommits From Tennessee

2016 four-star quarterback Austin Kendall announced on Tuesday that he is no longer committed to Tennessee.

There was a growing sense among Vol fans that Kendall, since January when offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian left to take a job in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, wasn’t exactly a solid UT commit.

More from Tennessee Volunteers

Kendall had a very good relationship with Bajakian. That’s not to say he didn’t or wouldn’t have with new Vols offensive coordinator Mike DeBord, but when you combine Bajakian leaving with Tennessee signing three quarterbacks in the 2015 class, well the writing was on the wall.

You always hate to lose a talented recruit and Kendall is obviously talented. But it became increasingly clear, throughout the past several months, that the fit between Kendall and Tennessee just wasn’t a good one.

The Vols are in great shape right now at the quarterback position. They have some great young talent that UT fans should be thrilled about seeing in orange.

Tennessee will still likely add a quarterback in the 2016 class, but it’s not a huge deal if they aren’t able to snag one.
